Holidays<br><br>9. Abby thanked the 67 businesses that sponsored last week Dog Show. It was the most they have ever had.<br><br>10. Barb and Abby from Martin Hospitality talked about the SMART (Start Making A Reader Today) program at the Elementary School. They are looking for volunteers to read to and be read to by 1st to 3rd graders at Cannon Beach Elementary on Tuesday Mornings from 8 - 830. Volunteers are also needed for a half hour on Tuesday afternoons.<br>
<br>11. Kim Barnett from the Cannon Beach Gallery Group announced that the group is renewing (and looking for new) sponsorships for its events - Mainly Spring Unveiling. 4 brochures are planned for the year and sponsors will be included in them. Please contact Kim if interested 436-1055.<br>
<br>12. Eight Cannon Beach businesses have been burglarized in the past two weeks. Most have taken place at dusk. Only cash has been taken. Bob suggested we need the police out of their cars and on the sidewalks with more regularity. Carol said that the same thing was taking place in Seaside and the the Seaside police suspected a local gang. At any rate, do not leave cash in your store.<br>

the impact on traffic and the local economy. A film "The High Cost of<br>Low Price" will air free at the Coaster Theatre Sat Oct 24th, 2 to<br>4pm. A representative from Wal-Mart will be invited to answer<br>questions. Julie mentioned that OPB's "Think Out Loud" program focused<br>

Elements, Northwest by Northwest, IceFire, George Vetter FotoArt and<br>Arriba Gallery - all reported that they were having artists,<br>entertainment and refreshments for Stormy Weather Arts Festival<br>weekend.<br><br>4. CarolHun reported that the Gazette will have a Stormy Weather<br>
Arts Festival insert and there is still time to get ad placement.<br><br>5. JimK announced that the Cannon Beach Gallery Group (11 member<br>galleries) is preparing its monthly focus schedule for 2010. All<br>businesses are encourage to join/participate in order to create a<br>
greater draw to Cannon Beach.<br><br>6. Wendy reported that at a recent seminar she attended, it was<br>pointed out that outside of government, Tourism is the #1 employer in<br>Oregon.<br><br>7. There was general discussion about how murals could add to<br>
Cannon Beach's art ambiance and complement the Sculpture without Walls<br>program.<br><br>8. Jeff reported that he and Tracy Abel attended an Eco Tourism<br>seminar last week. Many people are influenced by "Green" when making<br>

<br>9. ODEQ (Oregon Dept of Environment Quality) will have a<br>representative at City Hall on Monday Oct 19 at 430p. One of the<br>expected topics that the public will be interested in knowing is the<br>impact that Warrenton's proposed Wal-Mart will have.<br>
<br>10. George reported that before, during and since his recent trip<br>back east, he has been hearing about and seeing increased numbers of<br>visitors from<br>Canada. The Canadian economy apparently has not been hit nearly as<br>
