Patrick Nofield and Ben King showcased the Lodges at Cannon Beach. “Come
Live the Life”. Patrick and partners Tom Drumheller and Mike Clark
purchased property in 1999 and built Inn at Cannon Beach with the idea that
they would purchase additional adjacent property later. In 2005 they purchased
that property, but at 5 times the price of the first piece. Because of the high
cost of the property and development costs, it was decided to build condos
rather than motel rooms. Fractional ownership was chosen over full ownership to
bring prices within reach of more people. Each luxury, fully furnished, 2 and
3-bedroom condo would have 12 deeded owners with each being scheduled for 4
weeks per year (one week in each season – rotating annually). The
remaining 4 weeks are for maintenance and promotion.<span
style='color:black'> The project was originally planned for 16 units but
facing a weak economy, it was decided to phase the project. Eight units were
built in Phase One. Four units are currently offered as fractionals and four
are offered as full ownership. Two-bedroom fractionals start at $79K and
three-bedrooms at $99K. Home Owners Association fees, which include everything
but long distance phone, are approx $1200 and $1700 annually. The four full
ownership units are offered at $730K, $699K, $849K and $749. All prices have
been adjusted down recently to stimulate interest. These units can rent nightly
thru Inn at Cannon Beach. The Lodges are also affiliated with and rated
“Top Tier” with RCI, a network of condo rentals. Financing is
available. Contact Ben King 503-440-6310 <a href="mailto:ben@escapelodging.com">ben@lodgesatcannonbeach.com</a>

Break crowd is traditionally not good for her business, but she does get
lookers who she feels will be back later in the year. Tim at the Spa says
business was good during last week but Saturday was poor. Most business is last
minute and everybody wants a discount. Keith at the Seaside Aquarium says they
have been slammed. Pia says the theatre had a good Thursday and Saturday, but
not Friday. George says his El Mundo For Men apparel store manager, Sandy
Smith, reported that business was good and for the first time in a long time, people
were buying what they liked without laboring over price. Carmen was full at Sea
Ranch for the weekend.</span><o:p></o:p></span></p>

was frustrated with the power outage from 7am to 530pm on Monday. Some
businesses closed, some stayed open. Those that stayed open reported that they
did do business. Kathy encouraged making the most of these situations by having
temporary lighting available and by coordinating with other business to know
who is open so as to assist visitors in finding coffee, food and shopping opportunities.
Jeff said the Information Center closed at 1pm after having so many irate
people come in complaining. His observation was that Oregon vacationers were
more accepting of the situation than those from the Puget Sound area. Bob
Necker wants more pressure put on Pacific Power. “This is the 21st
Century, not the 19th Century”. George says with so many trees
surrounding the wires that feed us, we can expect these kind or outages until
we get our wires underground. In the meantime, we need to make the most/best of
these outages by being prepared and by being positive with our visitors.
Melissa, as a City Councilor, says she has spent time working with Pacific
Power looking at the situation. Specific trees have been identified as
potential problems and will be cut and/or trimmed. Part of the problem is with
infrastructure. Some of the poles and supports have not been maintained
properly. Bob Neroni asked about the feasibility of the City having a backup
generator. Fran suggested that the Info Center be a designated spot with backup
power and drinks, snacks and information during an outage such as this.<span

warned of a very tenacious Malware program that he is currently dealing with on
a laptop. It is called Antivirus XP 2010 or Antivirus Vista 2010. This malware
pretends to be a virus protection program. It throws up fake security risk
screens offering to protect you by registering – for money of course. The
screens it fakes are deceivingly similar to legitimate ones. The malware
disables programs that could disable it. AVG Antivirus did not detect it.
According to what George found on the Internet, antivirus programs do not
detect it. This malware appears to only affect the user who is logged in at the
time so if there is a second user on the machine, that user can be used. Once
the av.exe file was found and removed by Malwarebytes, most “exe” files
were still disabled. Where does malware come from? It can come from
downloading software, visiting questionable or unknown websites, and other
sources. Sometimes it will show up even if you have done nothing to cause it.
Be wary of any sites that you visit while online that aren't trusted, or that
you aren't familiar with. <o:p></o:p></span></p>

Gallery: Northwest art by Northwest artists is what you will find in the
gallery downtown at 232 N Spruce next to Cannon Beach Spa. Fifty Pacific
Northwest artists are represented. The gallery opened initially in SE
Portland in 1985. In 1987 a location was found in beloved Cannon Beach and in
1988 the gallery moved to Cannon Beach. Twelve years ago the old firehouse was
renovated and the gallery moved into its present home across from the City Park,
tennis courts and the Information Center. Being on Spruce Street creates a
challenge. Membership and participation in the Cannon Beach Gallery Group and
Chamber has been part of the gallery’s marketing plan from the beginning.
Three aspects of the business are 1. Retail – people who visit and
purchase onsite – mostly Seattle visitors. 2. Corporate – OHSU and
others. 3. Giving Back – financially supporting local and regional
causes. A velvet rope occasionally hangs across the door opening and money is
collected upon entry for these causes. Joyce focuses on photography and
painting while Bob’s focus is glass. Travel Oregon included the
gallery in a video “Oregon Uncovered” which is being aired
internationally. Passionate about public art, the gallery features sculptors
such as Georgia Gerber (who did a recent puffins piece of which 10% will go to
HRAP), Lillian Pitt, Wayne Chabre, and others. Bob is a writer and keeps a
journal, Joyce is into photography, but they do their art for themselves and
not the gallery. The galleries ads in Cannon Beach Magazine and Coast Explorer
Magazine were shared. Reach the gallery at 503-436-0741, <a
